Scope of Physiotherapy in Assam/India

If you're interested in preventing and curing physical dysfunctions in patients, then physiotherapy can be a preferred career choice for you. As one of the oldest methods of curing physical ailments, physiotherapy, or physical therapy, originated in ancient Greece during the time of Hippocrates, as a means of relieving pain in the body. In the modern world, physiotherapy is increasingly used to treat and prevent physical dysfunctions in patients.

In this blog, we will discuss physiotherapy and the scope related to it.

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a type of medical care that improves a patient's mobility, function, and overall health. Physiotherapy, in addition to physical rehabilitation, can help avoid injuries and enhance fitness and health.

They learn how to identify the underlying causes of an injury. After an operation, such as a hip replacement, or an incident, such as a heart attack or stroke, your doctor can recommend physiotherapy.

Types of courses & duration

After completing 10+2 coursework, students can pursue a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the main subjects. A bachelor's degree requires four years of study. This includes an internship of at least six months.

On the other hand, for students who have completed their UG, a 2 year master's degree programme in physiotherapy can be a popular choice if they are looking to pursue a rewarding career in healthcare.

Alternatively, students may also choose to enrol in a physiotherapy diploma programme (short-term) or seek a doctorate in the field (for continuing higher studies and research in the field).
