Yoga is a practice which plays an important role in relaxing the mind and body and boosting an individual's immune system. Yoga Session for all students from the Department of Nursing has been inititated in full swing as one of the Best Practice Initiative at CPMS College of Nursing & CPMS School of Nursing since the month of May 2024 . This initiative was started with the following objectives -

 To improve physical fitness, mental ability, and emotional stability of the students.
 To help students grow in self-discipline and self-control.
 To make students understand linkages between physical, mental, and emotional health and understand significance of spiritual values in human life.
 To improve the power of concentration, comprehension, and mental aptitude.
 To reduce stress and anxiety in the life of students due to the challenges faced by them and be aware of its therapeutic advantages.

Yoga sessions are conducted every Monday for 3 hours at the college premise. Lead Yoga Trainer, Ms. Purobi Devi who holds Diploma in Yoga and Naturopathy leads the students and faculties for warm up exercises & performing sitting and standing asana simultaneously explaining the importance of each postures.

The Essay Writing Competition held on 9th December at PEWS Group of Institutions provided an opportunity for students to express their thoughts in a structured and organized manner. Our students had the honor of performing the mesmerizing Mizo folk dance, "CHERAW" or Bamboo Dance, at the 2nd Southeast Asian Cultural Confluence 2023, graciously organized by the North East Ashirvad Foundation. We are thrilled to share that the recent campus placement drive conducted by Apollo Hospitals at PEWS for B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, and GNM final year students was a resounding success! The placement drive was held on 17th August 2023 at the #PEWSCampus. A total of 22 of our nursing students have secured lucrative job offers. We are immensely proud of our students for their exceptional hard work, dedication, and commitment. They have showcased their exceptional skills and demonstrated their ability to excel in their chosen field. The BSc Nursing 4th year students of CPMS College of Nursing conducted a school health programme at Fatashil Ganeshpara Primary School Assamese and Boro Medium on Saturday,12th August, where students were demonstrated and received health instruction on personal hygiene, food hygiene, conjunctivitis, home accident and burn prevention, and handwashing techniques. Following this, a role-play on "Good and Bad Touch" was also performed under the direction of Jyoti Pegu Maam.

The physiotherapy department of PEWS, with 32 students, the Principal of CPMS, Dr. Pallabi Goswami (PT), and faculty members Dr. Sukanya Baruah (PT) and Dr. Rohit Sharma (PT), attended the first-ever two-day national conference on August 4 and 5, organised by the IAPWC at the Constitution Club, Delhi, in the presence of notable guests such as Prof. Dr. Michael Landry (PT), president of the World Confederation of Physiotherapists, and various other delegates from across the country.
The students took part in a range of activities, including logo and poster presentations, paper presentations, and cultural events. The group excelled in the cultural competition and brought national-level accolades to the PEWS institution. Additionally, the IAPWC recognized Dr. Pallabi Goswami (PT), who also serves as State co-ordinator of IAP women cell for the state of Assam, for her noteworthy contributions to the field of physiotherapy in the region.

Students from the MSC Nursing and ANM programs at the CPMS College of Nursing took part in the rally held today in celebration of the World Hepatitis Day with the slogan "RUN FOR YOUR LIVER" to raise awareness about hepatitis B and c prevention. The Northeast Digestive and Liver Foundation organized the rally, which started at 6:00 AM from Latasil Playground to Nehru Stadium, B Baruah Road, Guwahati.

A two-day hands-on workshop was organized on 24th and 25th June at the PEWS auditorium on "Fundamentals Of Osteopathic Manual Therapy ( Lumbar and Thorax) Level-2 " by Dr. Ujwal Bhattacharya, a renowned physiotherapist in Assam.

The workshop for CPMS students commenced with the felicitation of Dr. Bhattacharya, who is a professor cum Dean at Pratiksha Institute of Allied Health Sciences, a Fellowship in Osteopathic Manual, as well as an accredited teacher of the Indian School of Advanced Biomechanical Correction; along with other PEWS group dignitaries, followed by the lighting of the lamp. Over 25 students and faculty attended. The workshop ended with certificate distribution and a vote of thanks on June 25th, 2023.

A health awareness program on "Personal Hygiene" was organized by the BSc Nursing 4th Year students of CPMS College of Nursing at Raghunath Choudhary High School, Birkuchi, Narengi yesterday.
The program focused on creating awareness among students about the importance of health and well-being, emphasizing preventive measures and healthy lifestyle choices for personal hygiene. A huge round of applause to the students for their outstanding efforts in promoting health awareness and making a positive impact on the lives of these students.

A 3-day in-service program on various topics was organized at Health City, Guwahati by the MSc Nursing 2nd Year students. The topics; Drugs used in cardiac emergency, Hemodynamic monitoring, and Immediate and late post-operative care after CABG were discoursed in the event.

Yesterday Secretary of PEWS Group of Institutions Mr. Ramendra Kr. Chamuah, along with the students and the faculties Dr. Mayur Das, Dr. Vandana Pradhan and Dr. Avik Paul of CPMS attended a seminar on "Behind the Games - Developing Interdisciplinary Services for Maximizing Performance and Well being". The event was organized by Lovlina Borgohain Foundation in collaboration with SLAC, Govt. of Assam on 11/06/2023 at NEDFI House, Guwahati. Dr. Mayur Das ( Asso. Prof.) was among one of the resource person in the program. Apart from olympian Ms.Lovlina Borgohain, the event was also graced by Commonwealth Games medalist Ms.Nayanmoni Saikia, Asian U-20 Athletics Championship Bronze medalist Mr. Mehdi Hadan, DGP Mr. G.P.Singh, Cabinet Sports minister Ms. Nandita Gorlosa, Director of Sports Mr. Pradip Timung, SLAC Member Secretary Mr. Gitartha Goswami and DIG Mr.Partha Sarthi Mahanta and also by coaches and athletes of various sports from Assam. Our sincere gratitude to the Lovlina Borgohain Foundation, SLAC, and the Government of Assam for organizing this insightful seminar. Together, we strive to build a brighter future for sports in Assam.

A 1-day outdoor posting was conducted at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta, Assam, for BPT (SSUHS) 2nd Year students, where 36 students and 2 faculty members participated as a part of their curriculum. They met with Principal Prof. Dr. Ramen Talukdar, who gave them an introduction to FAAMCH, and they were then assisted in the orientation of different wards and units of FAAMCH. The students got a chance to assess cases in ortho wards and PMRT with the guidance of the faculty members. The event concluded with a felicitation of the principal by PEWS faculty Dr. Avik Paul (PT) and Dr. Sukanya Baruah (PT) after a brief interaction with the students.

The essay writing competition saw participants share their personal experiences and insights on the nursing profession, while the rangoli competition allowed them to showcase their artistic flair. The poster-making competition brought out the best in their design and communication skills. It was a truly memorable day that celebrated the invaluable contribution of nurses and their unwavering commitment to patient care.

An exciting freshers event was organized to welcome the new batch of students at PEWS for the M.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Nursing, and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing students.
The event was graced by the presence of two distinguished personalities - PEWS Chairman Mr. Ram Murti Sharma and Vice President Mr. Vipin Bihari Singh. They congratulated the students on their admission to PEWS and wished them the best for their academic journey.
The event was a great success, and the students left with unforgettable memories. It was a perfect way to start their journey at PEWS and set the tone for the academic year ahead.

A free health camp was organized by PEWS Group of Institutions at Dakkhin Paschim Rangiya Anchalik Hari Mandir, Mohkholi, Rangiya yesterday with the help of Mr. Abhijit Bharali, President of AGRA NGO, Rangiya, Mr. Karuna Boro and Mr. Binanda Ram Kalita, President of Dakkhin Paschim Anchalik Hari Mandir, Rangiya. Dr. Satyendra Nath Choudhury and Dr. Prafulla Chandra Deka along with the students and faculties of Paramedical, Nursing, and Physiotherapy of PEWS provided free health checkups, free consultations, and treatments to the attendees. Cataract screening, BP and diabetes checkup, blood group checkup, and free medicines were also provided. The event was a huge success. Patients were educated and motivated for regular health checkups. We hope this small gesture will go a long way in empowering them to prioritize their health.

Some glimpse from today's free health camp organized at Lumnonrim Dewlieh Village, Umsning Meghalaya. Senior Doctor N.N Sharma and Doctor P.C Deka along with the students and faculties of Paramedical, Nursing, and Physiotherapy from PEWS provided free consultations, and treatments to the attendees. Free medicines were also provided. The event was a great success as many people around the neighborhood attended the camp and got consultations.
